The Ameer Interview

Ameer: 25 Hours in a Day

Hailing from New Rochelle Ameer has been able to start his career working with legends right off the bat, from CL Smooth to AZ to Erykah Badu. This youngin promises that his new abulm the “25th Hour” will be something you ain’t never heard in your life. Homeboy recently caught up with my man S1 and this is what he had to say:

S1: Yeah, yeah, yeah whats goin on my peoples…You know who this is…This is S1 da mutha fuckin man! Today man… I got a nice young prospect, you know what I’m sayin a lot of ya’ll niggas know him and if you don’t know you gonna know real soon , I got my nigga Ameer with me…Whats poppin nigga how you feelin today yo?

Ameer: Hey I’m just in da hood layin it down man…

S1: Aight, aight holdin it down…you representin?

Ameer: Yeah of course, of course…I mean without a question man you know…I here outside getting some of this New York air, that’s about it…

S1: Aight that’s definitely wassup…and for those who ain’t catchin on my niggas on a cellphone walking thru the NYC right now that’s the way we do it around here…You know what I’m sayin, we tap niggas from all places…But Ameer listen man…There are a lot of things I wanna get to …You got some serious credentials you know what I’m sayin, you got a project that’s bubblin up …I did my research on you my nigga…But talk to us I know you got started at an early age like 14 or so, how did hip hop get involved in your life? Talk to me my nigga…

Ameer: Man like hip hop is a lifestyle a lot of niggas are tryin to force they self to be hip hop and that shit is like either you got it or you don’t got it…this shit isn’t a forced feeling with me…when niggas see me they automatically know from the way I breath like they ain’t even watch my swagger , when I come into a room like its like an auora thing….its an energy, it’s a lifestyle and it’s a culture na meen…It’s just the illest shit on the face of the earth to me man and I think until a lot of catz understand what’s goin on they can never understand what hip hop is…It got into my life…I feel like I was born into it…It’s always been part of my life man since day one…Always…

S1: Aight that’s definitely was sup and just a little background information for all ya’ll that don’t know or haven’t figured out by now Ameer’s done a lot of good work man…You fucked around with Erykah Badu, fucked around with AZ…You met CL Smooth in a barbershop I heard? Wassup with that? Talk to me nigga…

Ameer: Nah that’s my nigga man…The Erykah Badu shit was a remix situation, this kid, my man Jason Puncci, he used to work for Sound Street and they had sent him a remix with some vocals that Erykah had did with Q-Tip was on and I guess they really wasn’t feelin Q-Tip’s verses on the record so they called me and I went over and laid down my joint I thought he was playin…But that’s how that happen as far as the Erykah thing …That was the first record I ever did with anybody…I mean it would be idiotic of me say nah I ain’t wanna record…After that the CL situation, I met CL before I met AZ…I mean I was born in New Rochelle New York so I always was seein CL and all them niggas …Grand Puba, Brand Nubians…I seen all them niggas as I was growing up as a kid back and forth all the time and I never thought in a million years I would end up doing a record with him…So that’s how the CL thing came into play…

S1: Okay. Okay…You know we interviewed him a couple of months ago he was down here in South Beach we went out to dinner and one thing that he made clear to us was that…” yo this album that I’m putting out there, the only guest appearances are gonna be the producers I ain’t gonna put no one else on this shit but me“…So the fact that you actually got on a track that’s coming out on that album says a lot to me, you know what I’m sayin…

Ameer: I was only on the chorus and I jumped on it but I was probably the only emcee whose voice is on the album…

S1: That’s wassup…Once again this is S1 Legacy Magazine, Legacy Radio and I got my nigga Ameer chillin in the NYC on the cell phone …So listen man talk to us bro the 25th Hour you know what I’m sayin…Wassup , what did you put together? What should we expect? Whose holdin heat with you on the muthafucker? Talk to us baby!!!

Ameer: This joint like you know what I mean…I promise niggas, I swear to everything I put my life on this ya’ll ain’t never heard of no shit like this that’s all I got to say …The 25th Hour man you have to hear it to believe it…It ain’t nothing super duper spaced out but definitely innovative …I will say this and I’m going to give you a clue…I sent the game backwards and forward at the same time musically and lyrically that’s all I got to say…

S1: So check it out man, the album we can’t wait for it, we know who you are, we know who you fucked with in the past…What do you wanna put out there? As far as you know bits and pieces of information to young catz coming up, to older heads that you may want to rock with, just any words of wisdom that you may wanna throw out there?

Ameer: Listen man I’m gonna keep it as unreal as possible…When I say it, I say it as an oxymoron…I’m gonna say something so real its gonna seem unreal…The best thing for anybody to do man from what I’ve learned in my travels thus far from fuckin with nigga, fuckin with that nigga…I would say do for yourself man, don’t wait for other people to do for you what you can do for yourself…And when people see your grind they’re gonna chip in…Nobody is going to invest there time and money on a nigga that won’t invest his own money and his own time in his self…You don’t have to invest $100k…You don’t have to invest $10k…But if you don’t have the money then invest the time in yourself, into your craft, into your artistry, invest the time into getting better…And bring some unity into the community as far as hip hop itself man I think these niggas is gonna conquer and divide us if catz don’t find some formula that cures the division….This about like upliftment man, you know what I’m sayin…Cause music is the most powerful form of expression on the face of this earth…Just be mindful of what you sayin, what you doin on the mic…
