BUCKSHOT: Boot Camp Click Commando
Buckshot recenlty kicked it with S1 and the Legacy crew about the new album Chemistry with 9th Wonder . The BDI mc also put us on to the grind of being an independent artist in this game:
S1: Yeah, yeah, yeah my niggas. You know who this is, this is S1!!!, Legacy Magazine, Legacy Radio. Legacymag.net. And I’m getting ready to finish off our little triple threat you know what I’m saying. That’s going down for Smif-n-Wessun Reloaded, Sean Price Monkey Bars and right now I got the one and only legendary , my nigga Buckshot. Whats poppin baby talk to us dawg? How you feeling today?
Buckshot: I’m here, I’m here baby. I’m on the scene, I’m on the set, you know how we do it?
S1: No doubt, no doubt. That Chemistry joint you just dropped with 9th Wonder. I mean that shit is bananas man. Talk to us bro. Whats the love? Whats the feedback baby?
Buckshot: Ah man, everybody’s loving it so far you know, it’s been nothing but positive feedback . Everybody’s been giving it a lot of attention a lot of love and so far even though it’s independent . A lot pf people have been showing it a lot of love so it’s a good time right now, because even though it’s been hard for us in the come up a lot of people have been supporting us and supporting the record they been showing us that they behind us all our true fans, all our true soldiers have been real important you know. In hip hop a lot of people you can lose fans man and we ain’t been losing no fans, true fans you what I’m saying, We lost a lot of the wannabes and the people who was acting like they was really there but they wasn’t really there, so we just haven’t had a that true fan base and that true foundation base which is all the people that always supported us man and that’s what really makes us go on , that’s what keeps us in this game?
S1: Alright I’m definitely feeling that. Seldom few but definitely a lot of underground hip hop heads that have supported you all the way thru, Myself and Migs, Legacy Magazine. Lets talk about general progression and where you stand today, Independent from day one pretty much, Black Moon, Legendary when they dropped Enter Da Stage you know what I’m saying. Walk with us, you know what I’m saying… Drops some jewels and knowledge for us baby?
Buckshot: I mean when I first dropped Enter Da Stage you know a lot of people wasn’t really up on Black Moon and when we dropped Enter Da Stage you know it was an independent thing so a lot of decided to get up on it and it’s always been a hard road man but you know what I’m saying it makes it much more easier the fact that you know that people started to get up on Black Moon and Smif-n-Wessun and get up on us through Helter Skelter and Boot Camp so you know we been putting out hits for along time?
S1: Staying steady busy. Right now some niggas may be living under a rock and may not know what I was referring to as far as the triple threat. That’s the 3 albums that Duckdown dropped this summer starting with reloaded on Sept. 13th. So as an independent you guys are definitely moving and shaking doing what you gotta do. How is it right now struggling and grinding like an independent you know what I mean?
Buckshot: It’s the way the same, the same grind you know it’s the same grind. It’s really been hard you know what I’m saying but at the same time my true fans, our true peoples have been behind us all they way. You now what I’m saying and that’s the reason why when we got the triple threat we decided to come back to back to back, Beacause this amount of time goes by and that amount of time goes by then we drop another album and that’s not up to us because our label has always been going thru a lot if bullshit, And every time we drop an album it don’t be us, it don’t be us. it be the label. it be a lot of bullshit, a lot of politics, Our thing is we constantly keep coming with it. Look, even though people don’t see the videos the way they used, even though the people don’t see the projects there are a lot of artists the same way. There are a lot of other artists out there. You know, what ever happened to Lil Mo?, what ever happened to D Angelo?, what happened to Capone? What happened to Noriega? What happened to this one? Why? What’s up son I know you gonna be on top the way you used to be kid. Yo I don’t take none of this shit personal dawg. I’m a hustla, I’m a grinda, I’m gonna get mine. I’m gonna do me!!! One!!!
