Chaundon: Spittin Venom

Chaundon is a member of the North Carolina based crew "Justus League" with other lyricist such as Little Brother, SkyZoo, and of course the super producer 9th Wonder. With a new album on the horizon and a mixtape buzzin the underground Chaundon is ready to represent the south Bronx to the fullest…I recently got to build with Chaundon and this is what he had to say:

Migs: Tell us about where you grew up and how you got into hip hop?

Chaundon: I grew up where it all began, The South Bronx. Hunts Point Avenue to be exact.  I got into hip hop by being surrounded by it.  Tony Tone of the Cold Crush Brothers is a friend of the family.  My sister was cool with DJ Jazzy Joyce when the mixtape game was still on cassette tapes lol.  Big Daddy Kane, Slick Rick, and Rakim were heavy influences so getting into hip hop was inevitable.  Plus money, hoes, and clothes are a great incentive ha ha.

M: How did you become part of the Justus League?

C: I was there from the beginning.  I went to school (North Carolina Central University) with Phonte, Pooh, 9th, and Dho before there was a Little Brother, or even a Justus League.  We were just kids with beats, rhymes, and a vision.  And well, the rest is history.

M: What projects can we look forward to hearing from you?

C: I have a lot of projects yo!  On Sept. 5th I am dropping 2 mixtapes "Ambitions Of A Writer" with DJ Vega Benetton and"VENOM" with Mr. Peter Parker.  My debut LP "No Excuses" is coming soon.  I also have about 3 more projects in the works. Can't speak on those yet, but you will know when they are about to drop!

M: What do you think about the state of hip hop?

C: Who cares.  "Ambitions Of A Writer" and "VENOM" Sept. 5th!!!  Little Brother "Get Back" Sept. 25th!!!!!!!!!!!

M: What advice can you give to the young heads trying to get into the game?

C: Don't be afraid to be who you are. Don't compromise your integrity for a check.  Stay consistant and don't put out any bullshit. The game is full of garbage already.  Be apart of the solution and make great music no matter what you are rappin' about ya dig!?
