S1, Common & Talib Kweli
COMMON AND TALIB KWELI: FOUND FOREVER
Ever since “Can I Borrow a Dollar?” came out Common has set the precedent for being a true emcee. Even Jay-Z wants to flow like Talib Kweli, that’s the kind of respect that Talib has earned amongst the elite of hip hop. Fresh off their Rock the Bells performance in Miami Common and Talib kicked it with S1 for a minute about being number #1 and this is what they had to say:
S1: Yo Common this S1 from Legacy Magazine and www.legacymag.net …I just want to ask you one question baby, you recently went #1 on the billboard…How you feel about going #1?
Common: Man chief…I feel like man!! Like blessed dawg just real grateful…I feel catz calling me like man you album is #1, it feels like a victory…A long time coming!! I’m grateful but we gonna keep pushin, but I ain’t gonna act like we didn’t pop a couple of bottles!!!
S1: I was at Rock the Bells in Miami…Talib, Common and Mos Def, you guys together on stage…Phenomenal!! You guys killed it…You guys are definitely the future of hip hop…You guys can take it where you wanna go…So where you gonna take us baby?
Common: Well Kwel I’ll you answer first…

Talib: The same thing you just said now is the same thing people was telling us 10 yrs ago at the mix show power summit…And in between that I might have been out on tour with Common at least 100 or 200 more times…This what we do you know what I’m sayin…Common went #1 because people really stuck with Common…People appreciate what we do culturally…Where we are at culturally is more relevant…You know people get caught up in them images and look at TV and say oh that dude has rims, look at his chain that n***a chain big as hell…And meanwhile Common could go #1, I’m coming off tour from Europe and touring the world…Like we good!!! I got my own label…We good!!!
S1: Alright that’s wassup…Yo last but not least…What are your expectations for this album? Like I said Common just dropped his…Your about to drop yours, it’s a 1, 2 punch…What do you expect and what are you looking forward to?
Talib: I mean I personally feel like Common’s victory is my victory as well…I feel so close to this brother and the struggle what we’ve been together…Like anything, like the movies, like the going #1…I feel like that’s my victory…It’s all good…And really at this point the numbers don’t matter cause we’ve already won in the people’s hearts you know what I’m sayin…
S1: No doubt…

Common: I wanna add on and say that as Kwel was talking I was thinking like yo ya’ll say #1 for me…That’s #1 for me, Kweli, Mos Def for Kayne…For all the movement, it’s a movement and we support each other…We real friends bro…Like we friends this ain’t nothing fake…Even beyond our friendship, we a movement for music man and we wanna get that material out there mean something and we don’t knock what other n****s is doin like southern music, whatever movement it is…That’s what they doin we gonna respect that…But we just gonna come with what we come with…
S1: Alright that’s wassup…Common I appreciate the talk baby…Talib I hope you album goes to #1 as well…S1… Legacy Magazine…Out baby!!!
