The Jade Foxx Interview

S1 & Jade Foxx
Jade Foxx: Mixtape Goddess
Jade Foxx for the past couple of years has left a blazed trail of mixtape appearances that reach from here to the moon. This homegirl has been on mission to become hip hop’s mix cd goddess and everybody want to have her host they cd. Jade was in our magazine a few years ago when she was just starting out but as she put it “it seems like a lifetime since I last interviewed with ya’ll so much has happened.” So S1 recently caught up with the lyrical murder mami and this is what she had to say:
S1: Yeah, yeah, yeah you know who this is…This S1 the muthfuckin man, Legacy Magazine, Legacy Radio, Legacymag.net…And today I got my homegirl Jade Foxx in the house…What’s poppin baby? How you feeling ma?
JF: I’m doing lovely you know just keeping it moving…
S1: Alright that’s definitely wassup…For those that don’t know Jade Foxx is one of the hottest literally one of the hottest female rappers in the game…
JF: Oh stop it…
S1: You know its true, you know its true you got a lot of people that will back me up on that…You been grindin for a minute, definitely one of the hardest working females…I know people can’t even fuck with me on that one…But what’s been going on, its been about 2 years since we got together…My fans keep hitting us…Your fans keep hitting us asking us what’s poppin with you…So what you got lined up what’s new?
JF: First let me say I can’t even believe that its been 2 years since the last time we did it…It seems like a lifetime ago yo…Basically what’s been poppin with me…Of course the mixtapes are just keeping music coming to DJ’s so that they can support your girl and their mixes as well as my own mixtapes…To date I’ve dropped vol.1, vol. 2, and vol. 3 of “Let a Woman Handle This”…They are kind of like street albums, they got some original material but you know the mixtapes format is you know is industry beats stuff like that…Thank you G-Unit!! Ha, ha, ha!!!! But that’s been the main thing for the past few years trying to generate that buzz outside of my area because it’s important to get the name out…Aside from that I’ve been working on my long, long, long anticipated album for like the past 5 years!!! But it is in the works, its almost done its going to be dropping soon…We are going to be having independent distribution, so hopefully we will be able to get an independent deal poppin off to where it can be picked up in stores and stuff…

S1: Aiight there is nothing wrong with that ma you can definitely set a blaze or a little spark it’s happened before…
JF: Absolutely and pretty much when that’s wrapped up and ready to come out were going to be dropping the first official single you know and pushing that…Hopefully be able to get it on vinyl and you know push it like an official single…
S1: Now listen a lot of people have heard your music you literally have been on hundreds of mixtapes. You got so much material out there, cyberspace, physically in the streets and I know a lot of DJ’s hold you down…You do get a lot of regular radio play for someone that doesn’t got a deal and is grinding hard and is doing the independent tip…Now that you got an opportunity why don’t you break that down for us, trials and tribulations…
JF: Well basically when your talking about commercial radio its kind of hard to get that poppin when your an indie artist let alone just an artist affiliated with a label...You know, cause there is politics involved and everything...Basically for me it didn't just happen to where I was getting radio play...My main thing had been a lot of DJ's reached out to me and ask me to do a promo for their mix show stuff like that...So even though I'm not getting airplay on like one of my songs or anything like that its still showing me love because for the 1st minute of their mix show you hearing me talk about them...So that’s been a big help as far as exposure and people hearing my name...I get people hitting me up all the time saying I heard you were on so and so station I didn’t know blah, blah, blah…It’s all love, it’s all about the exposure and getting the word out…But I still do struggle getting my original material on the radio and stuff and when your talking about commercial radio like I mentioned there is a lot of politics…The DJ’s are not really free to play what they want necessarily so you know a lot of stuff has to go thru the program director and stuff like that so at this point I really don’t have the budget to be caking off any program directors to be playing my joints so you know I just hope and pray if they feeling my stuff that they will show some love…
S1: So as far as the future goes with the album coming out soon, what can we expect? What are your goals? What is Jade Foxx?

JF: Jade Foxx is a mogul in the making…I mean I wanna branch out far beyond being an artist of course this is the way to get my foot in the door and also a way to express myself and rep hip hop and do something I love…But you know I’m going to be able to be an artist forever especially the way the industry is now I just don’t see that happening…Eventually I want to get into production, management you know the business and the background side of stuff…I don’t wanna be in the limelight forever you feel me…Aside from being a solo artist I also have a group with my girl Scarlet Rose, the group is called Untitled…Basically because we are both on the same level as far as what we do, we both sing and rhyme, we are both all about the hip hop and good music so we are on the same wave length with that…That’s my girl from high school you feel me, we relinked back up and now were doing this group shit…We figure if don’t make it as solo artists we can make it as a group…
S1: Listen mama it’s been a pleasure you know what I’m sayin…our phone lines are always open to you and I’m sure we’ll catch you in the streets…Any last shout out ma?
JD: Man I hate this part…Without leaving anybody out…I just wanna give a big shout out to all my supporters worldwide that includes fans, DJ’s, other artists, producers everybody knows who they are you feel me…So if you on my team and you fuck with me mad love and big shout outs to you, if not, keep it movin…Shout outs to the Bum Squad DJ’s, my Full Impact All-Stars and of course shout out to LegacyMag Migs and S1 one love!!!
