K-Solo: The Fugitive Still on the Run
With a label and a little brother about to go pro K-Solo seems to have never stopped since his days of being down with the Hit Squad and solidifying Strong Island’s place in hip hop. S1 caught up with K-Solo to air out once and for all why he left the Hit Squad to sign with Death Row and this is what he had to say:
S1: Yeah, yeah, yeah!!! What’s going on my peoples!? You know who this is…This is the mother fucking man S1 Legacy Magazine, Legacy radio, Legacymag.net and today yo straight to chase I got my boy K-Solo with me…What’s good dawg, talk to me man a lot of questions bro what’s good?
KS: I’m good man, I’m ready…
S1: Okay…Let’s start off with Waste Management…Uhm where it is you got a situation that you put together, you signed a couple of catz here, I’ll let you go ahead and say who those catz are but sounds like you are definitely on the come up, your planning some stuff…Talk to us about Waste management…
KS: Yeah Waste Management was something that I put together it was formed in 2001 in Brooklyn, I live in Chicago right now on the Southside…I signed some great candidates I signed my man Buckwheat from the valley, signed Black from Boston Roxbury section, Skull cracker from Rhode Island and Willy Dynamite and we just trying to do things man…Something inspiring, something different you know I’m trying to put the past in the past and move on…I had scenarios and situations with people who didn’t make my scenario so bright but you know I’m going to press on and keep doing what I got to do…A lot people don’t think that K-Solo is still relevant in the game, a lot people do…We doing our mix tape campaign right now you know just keeping our ear to the streets that’s what you got to do to keep afloat…
S1: Aiight that’s what’s up…I know currently your not fucking with Death Row, but I know you have fucked with them in the past, you were signed to them awhile ago, just talk to us about that whole experience…After you left the Hit squad you went out on your own what was that situation like yo that’s interesting to our readers…

KS: They had they own difficult scenarios and I never got the time to see the light of day the 3 years I was down with them but I learned a lot, I worked with a lot of people I made a lot of connections with people that I use right now…I really don’t have anything bad to say about anyone of over there, much respect…I never had any situations out of that situation a lot of good energy…
S1: The situation that lead you to leave the Hit Squad, I know certain things happened I don’t know exactly what happened but I know that it was bad enough that you bounced I know that you don’t necessarily have good blood with a couple of those catz from back in the day Redman, Keith Murray and so on and so fourth…What exactly transpired? What are you willing to talk about today that would be relevant to that situation back then?
KS: Basically what happened was some things went down with them EPMD in particular you know they watched us growing up…They watched me they watched Biz Mark these guys weren’t rappers man…These guys were watching, these guys were dancers you know…I knew they weren’t street like that, they never did jail time, they had no crew of people…I’m not here to smear that but they weren’t street like that and then to make it look like we were put a bad taste in my mouth…I was rappin when Biz Mark was rapping man…Biz Mark never heard of EPMD until they came out with an album, they weren’t rappers…So its like people don’t know that they look at EPMD like they supported me but I was 12 or 13 rhyming way before EPMD was allowed to go out to house parties…They didn’t know that I’m the godfather of Long Island music…people disrespect me I don’t get mad because I know a lot of people don’t know cause that’s EPMD’s fault cause they never educated the people to who K-Solo was before I was K-Solo, KV and I rapped in the days with guys that you couldn’t get the mic you had to have respect to get the mic…You ask Biz Mark about my track record and what I represented and what I did…Then you got these guys coming out and the story changes and the respect level was not what it used to be I have a problem with that…Then when they robbed each other I told son to stop and no one wants to listen…then Parish calls me on the phone panicking about Brooklyn niggas ran up in his house and I got to go over there with a shotgun…C’mon man if you was that dude why you calling me on my phone and if Eric is that dude that he tries to say he is the why he jumping out windows? You know its real talk…You know nobody got no respect for Solo why am I going to have respect for them…If its fuck me then its fuck everybody and that’s how its gonna go…That’s what I mean and that what I stand by I’m not gonna bite my tongue for nobody…I don’t need a thousand dudes in my crew extorting me and shit, I get it by myself…I don’t need 20 niggas holding me down…And whoever runs up on me you better be ready to run up on me…Like when Keith Murray jumped me with like thirty niggas I did not fall on my feet I took an ass kicking, but I can take an ass kicking I can give one too…I don’t have a problem with that shit I’m not afraid of that shit…I’m not gonna be no fucking coward running from nobody at all…If it wasn’t for me there would be no Keith Murray…
S1: Yo, Solo man we definitely appreciate the interview and taking out the time, you busted a lot of knowledge I know niggas is straight because of it now…Any last words?
KS: Yeah DMX talking a whole lot of shit talking about he wanna scrap, he live…All he has to do is get in touch with Center Stage, yo sign the paper, we go in there and do our 5 rounds and handle our business you know…Just go in the ring get your ass broke up and go home man simple…I’ll beat you with a bad back and a hurt neck nigga, you ain’t shit nigga never was…That’s why you ain’t sell no records on this last album and your TV show went the fuck off the air…Anytime you wanna scrap let me know I will gladly knock the crack out your asshole…
S1: Aiight that’s definitely wassup, K-Solo you the man dawg, do what you gotta do sounds like you got everything under control aiight baby…
KS: One time…
