S1 Who were some of the early, well known catz u worked wit that made u say, "I can't believe Im working wit this Ni**a"?

DJR Honestly, I have never really had that feeling cuz at the end of the day the big artists are just regular cats like everyone else for the most part. I have been fortunate enough to have worked with mostly real and humble artists like Das Efx, Cocoa Brovas and such.

S1 How did it feel to travel out of the US for your first performance wit a foreign crowd, and where was it?

DJR My first ever foreign performance was in a club in the west indies when I was about 16. I was out there on vacation and my friend who dj’ed at the biggest club let me represent. I did my thing and knew from there this is what I would be doing. My first big foreign performance was in Brazil. This was in 98 and was my first ever show with Das Efx. They called me and asked what I was doing over the weekend and asked me to come dj the show for them. I learned the entire show in sound check and later we rocked for 10,000 people!

S1 When did it dawn on you that you had made it as a DJ & that you can clock serious Loot doing it?

DJR Well, I won’t say that I have “made it” yet but I have come a very long way. About 2 years ago the business side of the game really started showing its face to me. I am doing me, but I am still learning a lot everyday and have a ways to go before I am where I really want to be in the game. I still drive a 95 Camry so I won’t say I am clocking “serious” loot yet but I plan to be in the millionaire tax bracket before its all said and done.

S1 We have alot of readers & listeners out in Japan and Singapore. How did they embrace u and Hip Hop on the other side of the Planet?

DJR They were feelin the kid! When people feel that real energy that I bring they appreciate it. Japan has a nice vibe. I can’t wait to go back and rip it down out there again. Would love to hit Singapore. I haven’t been there yet.

S1 You've worked wit catz like the Boot Camp Click, DAS-EFX and Junior Mafia... Who are some of the catz you are currently working wit?

DJR I am doing stuff with Thirstin Howl 3rd and many other artists but I am also working with up and coming artists who will be big soon. Cats like Un Pacino, Scott Kane and Lod Boy. Remember those names !!!!!

S1 On the intro to your site there's a picture of u wit Don King in the NY Subway. What wuz that encounter like?

DJR Actually , that pic is from the airport. Me and Don were on the same flight coming from Paris and that pic is near the baggage claim at JFK airport.

S1 How wuz it appearing on B E T's Rap City "The Basement", & MTV?

DJR It was cool. It really exposed my abilities to a lot of people. I had a lot of cats coming up to me in the street giving me props for representing for the real djs because most djs go on the bassment and don’t do anything. It definitely gives me more credibility so when I go up to labels, sometimes they are like “oh shit, I saw when you were on the bassment doing your thing”Peace to Tanisha & Big Tigga.

S1 What do u think about the Current State of DJing & the Mix CD phenomenon, u know catz like Clue signing to labels and actually runnin his own.

DJR Its cool. There are too many untalented djs in the game congesting the market but I don’t hate on cats like Clue and them cuz I am doing the same thing they are. Doing beats, having a label, doing parties and shows and having hot promo cds floating out there. =) Theres no reason dj’s shouldn’t exploit the business for what it has become and get paid. I am looking for a label to sign me right now, ya smell me? Labels, holla at the kid. I got hot beats too. I just produced Das Efx’s new single track called “How we Do” which is a banger !

S1 Dawg, your site is off the Train Tracks www.djrondevu.com I truly recommend it to ever1, but my question is "What up wit the Dangerous Mined Video"? Break that shit Down???

DJR The Dangerous Minded DVD is a documentary/ dvd magazine. It shows you the RAW DAWG REALITY of these NY streets. It shows the life that myself and my peers live everyday. It may be shocking for some! =) It has interviews and behind the scenes footage with Das Efx, Cocoa Brovas, Thirstin Howl 3rd, The 5th Platoon DJ’s and much more. It has some priceless footage of me on tour overseas and much more. If you are a fan of real hip hop this is something you MUST peep!

S1: I ve seen your Mix CD's placing pretty High on a few Mix CD Charts as far as Cali. What your secret?

DJR: I could tell you but I would have to kill you after! =) Basically I just try to give people the heat they want to hear and exclusive stuff they won’t hear anywhere else and put my own spin on it. Mixing and blending play a big part in my game. There are way too many “yellers” in the game. I always try to do something that you would say “DaMN, that nigga is flippin that shit !!!”

S1: What advice do u have for up & coming DJ's trying to get their rocks off in this Game?

DJR: First and foremost, BE ORIGINAL !!!!! I cannot stress that enough. There are so many fake Clues out there it makes me sick! See what works for you and go with it. If you are going to call yourself a dj make sure that some type of djing is part of your game. Practice ! Dj’ing is both an artform and a discipline that you have to work on.

S1: Who do u think is the next Big Thing coming out of Brooklyn?

DJR: My man Un Pacino is a BEAST !!!!

S1: Dawg, u makin it happen in a Big, Big Way and every1 here @ Legacy is behind you 200%. Good, Good Looking Out wit those Exclusives u hooked us up wit. What else Can we expect from DJ Rondevu aka "The Brooklyn Badboy"???

DJR: Well ,in the future you can expect to see me behind the boards of some hot joints that you will be hearing on the radio as my production will begin to get some long awaited shine. I have been doin hot beats for years but everyone knows how slow and hard this game can be. I will of course continue to be rockin parties and stageshows across the globe and dropping hot mix cds. I also plan to release The Dangerous Minded album/dvd later this year on my Ghetto Penthouse label. At the moment it will be an independent release but that’s the way to go in the current state of hip hop. It will be an album mostly produced by myself and featuring some of the artists that I work with and it will be bundled with The remixed version of my current Dangerous Minded DVD which will have tons of extra footage ! I am also trying to land a solid radio spot. At the moment I am checking some syndication stations so I will keep you posted. Thanks again to Legacy Mag for making this happen
