S1: I got D.R. right now. Legacy magazine/Legacy radio-S1. You are really makin it happen for us right now, the senior editor Migs, you produced one of his top three favorite songs, ”How’s About Some Hardcore” man, I can vouch for that nigga coz I was standing right next to him singing that shit from the top of his fuckin’ lungs. Were talkin about ten yrs ago or so and getting nice.

Talk to us man…whas’ goin on..We’re gonna get into your background-what you’ve done, who you worked with…what’s goin on with you the man right now?

D.R: Man there a lot if things poppin’ off with D.R. right now. I just finished up my album Quarantine which is crazy, I got my favorite group of all time which is MOP on my album.

S1: No Doubt…No Doubt…A lot of work with them we’re gonna touch on that.

D.R: That was a real big step for me you know for them to even understand that DR was converting over to the rap game, but you know just like I know that I have always been a part of the rap community I just never really let cats know that, that was really what I was wanting to do at that particular time up until this point where the game is shifting more to my favor where there is my side of the story that needs to be told. I just got into that. I just shot a movie, a movie to the album, called Quarantine, when a cat buys the cd he is not gonna have to buy the cd and then go to the store and buy the documentary, this is a movie that is attached with a soundtrack and a magazine, so its all in one package you know. On the production level I’m just steppin my game up finishin up the two new MOP albums that I just finished bangin out for them.

S1: No doubt…no doubt…niggas is feenin on the streets for that…

D.R: Working on my man Bleek you know what I’m sayin, doin some stuff over there, the Roc, just doin things for Cam’ron and the whole Diplomat family. It’s like really sick right now. My work level has increased like 99% stronger this year.

S1: Dawg you in demand, I know it’s a tough job trying to be DR, but your in demand and somebody’s gotta do it

D.R: The great part about it is that I’m here and I’m here to tell a story, you know.

S1: Lets take it back for a minute, you know I was talkin about “Hows About Some Hardcore” a little while ago…One of my all time favorites on the realz was that “Broken Language” shit with Trigga Da Gambler, talk to me about that shit dawg.

D.R: The hustle movement was like one of the most real dopest experiences I had in the game-that was my first time really being a production company on my own and have to deal with Def Jam directly and Profile directly and working with Smooth and Trigga that’s a classic group right there, they are so talented you know. The whole squad they had over there they had some talented bros. You definitely gonna hear more from them in the future, and actually me and Smooth were talkin recently about getting together and doin a D.R. and Smooth Da Hustler collabo. It’s definitely a good look.

S1: As far as movies man I know you deep into the movies, I’ve been looking at the body of work that you done and bro you’ve done a lot of production work man. Why don’t you break some of that down and explain to us how you made that transition, coz’ it’s not every producer that jumps in to the movie biz.

D.R: To grow into the movie game you have to first want to be a musician. The movie game is about talent right now an you know me… I’ve been a musician I play bass, I play guitar, I play drums, I play several different instruments so you know when I started coming up with different concepts in my first movie was the movie “Fear“, then “House Party” then “House Party II“, “No Game”, “Nutty Professor” , “The Empire“, “You Got Served“, “Bringing Down the House“, “Blade“, “Honey“, “The Last Castle“, It‘s crazy my whole movie thing my newest greatest creation is “The Longest Yard” that I’m working on now

S1: Oh your bullshitin me, I’m seein’ commercials for that shit on TV already kid!

D.R.: On the soundtrack you get to hear D.R. as the artist too and also hear D.R. on the scorin tip, so yeah there’s a lot great thingsgoin on

S1: You brought up something that I wanna touch on…and I also have something else I want to touch on…but I also read that you be alright on the mic. You do your shit, you flowin, whas the deal wit’ that yo?

D.R.: Aww man it’s crazy yo I just finished the craziest album, I mean you know a lot of cats be braggin about they shit and sayin well my shit is hot. D.R. have been working on this album for a minute. Actually it’s two albums one became a soundtrack to the movie and the other will become just a straight up album. Lyrically I had stepped my game up you know I had always had a great vision for things you know I have the words, I have the talent, I have the ability to engineer and record myself, since they invented the digital way of movin around, I even designed myself a portable studio that I moved around with in a case, called studio A, the D.R. edition, where it has the Pro Tools, The Improv, the G4, laptop, it’s just crazy man. I’m so portable I could make tracks right there on the side of the road. I got everything it’s all digital you k now just throw my laptop, open it up put it on the panel, boom and I’m good. I set myself up to be ready for the war. D.R. just working on a lot of things when it comes to the artist, the creative part of the game, it helps development of new acts.

S1: Damn boy you got a lot goin on right now…from the list man you gonna be working with a lot people right now. Freeway, Queen Latifah, Az, Nas, Case, Foxy Brown, Public Enemy, The Dip, Jewel Santana, when do you have time to do anything else my man?

D.R.: This is all I do this is what I live for.

S1: Livin Hip Hop right?

D.R.: Thas what I’m tryin to bring forth..I’m just a one man army…God blessed me with the gift to be able to do all these great things and I’m gonna definitely keep on makin music you know

S1: It’s been a pleasure interviewing you. You been around for a minute and you been holdin it down… It seems like 2005 is gonna be a hell of a year. Anything that you have on your mind to tell your fans and our fans , words of advice anything you want to put out there that you think people need to hear from you.?

D.R.: All these up and coming cats to know, from artist to producers, no matter what people say if you see that it can happen follow your vision believe in your heart definitely keep your faith in God and you be good. Definitely pick up my album “The Quarantine“, the movie, the album ya know what I’m sayin, it’s definitely crazy and check out my new single it’s called what’s your problem homey thas’ bangin right now across the country I’m getting a lot of love on that. Definitely support me and I’ll definitely support y’all and keep makin those great records and keep comin yup with those good concepts and we all gonaa get to the top and lets stay together, lets keep this music amongst us and lets share the knowledge and wisdom and understanding and stay strong as peoples.

S1: Yo man you heard it straight from D.R.‘s mouth. This is S1 legacy radio/legacynmag.net again signing off, DR. the man.
