I guess you can say that the best way to start a career in hip hop is to make a classic joint with Nas. That’s exactly what Quan did when he and Nas made the classic joint “Just A Moment”. Now with his debut “Until My Death on the horizon Quan is ready to show the world his true skills as a rapper, singer and producer. S1 recently politicked with the don Quan about his inspiration, life, and music and this is what he had to say:

Q: What it is homie…G Side-Ridin all day everyday and twice on Sunday...
S1: That’s wassup…But yo Quan right now you got the streets buzzin since 2004 “Street Disciples” you know what I’m sayin you ripped it up with Nas…But now your getting ready to release your own shit “Until My Death”…So what’s good with that? What can we expect big dawg?
Q: You look forward to that feeling that you had when you first popped in that “Purple” tape…You can look forward to that feeling you had when you first popped in that “Me Against the World” you know what I’m sayin “Reasonable Doubt” this that soul man you know what I’m sayin…The balance…That’s what your gonna get with “Until My Death”…Balance…The balance between right and wrong and striving to be better is mandatory in life…To cut it short its real soulful…Real soulful…The reason why I titled it “Until My Death” was because I had to die a few times in order to live…I went through a lot and I’m still here because God got a purpose for me, that’s why I titled it “Until My Death”…But at the same time it’s giving you life, it’s giving you love and it’s giving you my testimony that you can take something from it and I ain’t gonna stop until it’s a classic…To make it a classic as I do with every verse I write with every syllable I spit that’s what it is man…East coast southern gangster music you know…
S1: Aiight that’s definitely wassup…We know that you definitely put in your time you livin the real life, no bullshit here…But those last few albums that you brought up…Those are some real albums, I know you bringing the heat but those are some, that’s a tall order son talk to us, what inspires you to put your music together to know for a fact that its that type of quality shit that your gonna bring to us that’s the next fresh breathe of air you understand what I’m sayin?

Q: You know certain situations…It’s like everything that I give you is a chapter out of my life, you feel me because I’ve been through a lot…And not only that it’s some messages that God has put me here to give to you and to others…So how can you not get that?…Hey if I go platinum or I go gold nigga if I only sell a little bit whatever the case may be I know I’m gonna break my neck to give you…You know what I’m sayin?

Q: At the end of the day all I can say is you know what I gave it my damn best…I gave my blood, my sweat and my tears homie…You know what I’m sayin?
S1: The anticipation is that big Quan you sing, you rap you produce your own music…You sing for the streets, you rap for the hustlers… what are you trying to do? What is your message or is it something that you say whatever you feel like saying at whatever point in time?
Q: I feel like saying whatever I want to a certain extent because a wise man knows when to speak and when not to speak…But outside of that it’s real life that’s what I speak about whether it be good times or bad times, clubbin time, peaceful times, war time but its all from a real source, you can tell that I’ve been there…I like to say that there’s always 3 sides to a story…This person’s side, that person’s side and then there’s the truth…That’s Quan, the truth and the messenger, that’s what my name means. I was blessed with that from my family, you know my niggas added the Don Ferquan part because I came up and I earned my ranks in the streets you dig what I’m sayin? Let me give you a little piece…My mother was born on November 1st that’s All Saints Day….My biological father was born on Halloween, you dig…My aunt knew what she was doing when she said name him Ferquan because it meant the balance between good and bad and that’s what I’m here for to give you the balance…That’s what it is man, you know…I talk about everything that I’ve been through and I’ve seen…You know if you can relate to it, pop to it…If you ain’t ever been through it learn about it, you know what I’m saying…If you don’t like it…Hey…Do you homie…
S1: Once you got out of the system and you go out and try to better yourself, you hooked up with L.E.S and put some tracks down and before you know it Nas is in the picture…That must have felt like a breathe of fresh air, talk to us about that time because niggas wanna know…
Q: To be truthful like situations and circumstances I wasn’t doing the right things when me and L.E.S met you know what I’m sayin…Like I was still in the trap you know what I mean…I used to tell homie…Like Homie you just don’t know what you brought me out of you know what I’m sayin…Like it was for real and their aren’t words in the English language to describe how grateful I was…
S1: Quan I can only imagine but at the end of the day hip hop fans are gonna totally understand why that took place you know what I’m sayin…Yo hey one last question bro…You got together with Nas…”Just a Moment” was insane that shit touched so many different people on so many different levels in so many different genres…My question to you is…You know…Touring The Streets Disciple tour in Europe…How did the people overseas respond to that shit?
Q: Awww man…Again homie…Not to be short be to be honest the English language can’t even explain it dawg…For anybody who is a fan of my music that got love for me I got love for them…Because that means that…I put my life into this right here…I put my life on front street and sacrificed dawg…So when one of my fans say yo I love that music…I’m rocking with that…They rocking with me on a personel level dawg you know what I’m saying…They got a love for me…It is what it is with me, not 24/7 but 25/8 my dude…You feel me?
