Tego Calderon: The King of Reggeton
Tego Calderon is a Bonafide "International Hip Hop Star". From Record Labels (Jiggiri Records is his imprint wt Atlantic) to Grammy nominated Albums to Movies with John Singleton, Tego is making it happen. Several days before the Grammys S1 caught Tego @ the Maimi Airport headin to Puerto Rico. This is what they had to say:
S1: Hey what's going on my people! You know who this is this is S1 `. hey listen, i got a special guest for you all. I have with me, Tego Calderon, the King of the reggeton! What's up papo. Talk to me baby!
Tego: All good; all good. Here, leaving again for the island. We're here in Miami doing a few presentations and we are returning to the island.
S1: Okay. First, I want to congratulate you on the new album "Underdog" that has been nominated for a Grammy.
Also I understand that you have been doing big things with your record label Jiggiri in the last months, talk to me about that..
Tego: All good, now we go for the big thing now in February. We have the movie going out in March with John Singleton. I have my artist Tino Vino, next on the table, we have a few projects with Jiggiri we have new talent, we have new associates more than enough... major movements in business and we are satisfied to know everything is going well in 2007.
S1: Okay okay, that's what I'm talking about. Again, I have Tego Calderon here with me. Hey man, this morning I was checking out your video, "Chillin", where you were in Jamaica with Don Omar. Talk to me about that bro, filming that out there, the song was real heavy, with that reggee beat, talk to us baby!
Tego: Well yea, that song was down for me it has always been a big influence in my music. The Jamaican reggae has always been a genre that I have respected and since I had the opportunity to use that rhythm and of doing this song. And I like the rhythm, so we came up with the words and made the song. Don Omar wanted to get together on the song, so we did. Ever since we recorded the song we thought about shooting it in Jamaica. We were happy with the result, with everything. The people loved the video. It was of good quality!
S1: YEA!
Tego: So we move forward, Chillin ' Chillin '
S1: Chillin ' Chillin '. So that's whats up man! Okay, I understand that you're on a trip. So where it is that you're going now. So is it work or a vacation.Talk to me, the people want to know what ya doing, man!

Tego: No. I am going home to Puerto Rico to be with my kids and then we are going to Panama the following week. But for now we are doing a family trip. We are going to spend time with the family and then return.
S1: Okay. Good thank you, tego, thank you very much man!. I understand that you are at the airport and we thank you for taking the time to talk with us. Any last words that you want to say to the people?..
Tego: Actually, I want to give them thanks for the support that they given to me.
S1: okay, okay, that's whats up..
Tego: Thanks for the support that they have given my CD, the support that they have given me as an artist. Much blessings for the year to all. And we move ahead!
S1: Okay. From one Hispanic to another, keep on doing what your doing cause you are doing it well and somebody has to do it, okay?.
